Confronting Stradlater
2024
This sequence would be part of a feature movie adaptation of The Catcher in the Rye. For context: Holden, who's flunked out of his preparatory school, is tasked with writing his roommate, Stradlater's, English paper as he goes on a date with Holden's childhood friend Jane. Jealousy builds as Holden's reminiscing of both his late brother's baseball glove and the checker games he's had with Jane are interrupted by Stradlater returning late to the dorm.
I imagine this scene in the first act of the movie. We follow holden and watch how he tries to confront life now that his childhood memories become tainted by present circumstances.

Sweet cicada

Sweet cicada is a personal project I concieved of post surgery. It tells the story of a person who changes their body when they realise they are created without skin.

BIO
Mira De Koven is a mixed media artist and animator living in Montreal. Their influences are a blend of slice-of-life storytelling, visually compelling horror and brightly coloured psychedelic animation. Through graphic textures and illustration they focus on creating bold colourful work that showcases the mundane miracles of everyday life. I am available for freelance work and collaborations.
